The Planning Division assesses film permit fees and collects some fees for other departments. All fees are nonrefundable. The fees are as follows: Film Permit Application Fee: $300 due upon permit submittal. Applications will not be processed until fee is received. Filming Activities: $225 for the first location, $155 for each additional site/location Filming Activities Requiring Waivers: $355 for the first location, $155 for each additional site/location Film Permit Amendment: $150 for minor changes to an approved film permit Other Department Fees: Business License Fee: $151 For the first film day, $150 for each additional film day Fire Department Review Fee for Filming: $148/day Fire Department Review Fee for Still Photography: $148/day Animal Services Review Fee: $50 for activities with the use of animals. Separate permits and fees may be required from other County agencies, such as an Encroachment Permit from the Public Works Agency for filming on a County road or County right-of-way. Please contact the respective County agency for permit information and fees. To provide expedited service, the Planning Division collects the fee for the Fire Department and the County Tax Collector. UNINCORPORATED COUNTY OF VENTURA

The County of Ventura requires all commercial film productions to obtain a Ventura County Film Permit for all filming activities within the unincorporated areas of Ventura County (including private property). Productions must obtain a Film Permit for any filming activities including, but not limited to, feature films, TV series, TV movies, commercials, music videos, still photography, and web productions. Student film productions may be exempt but are required to contact the Film Permit Coordinator regarding their production.
